I am currently a finance doctoral student at the University of Georgia (UGA). My research focuses on extracting information from internet sources of qualitative data such as blogs, Twitter, and news articles. I utilize the tools of web scraping and natural language processing to systematically collect qualitative data from the internet and then process it into a usable form. This type of financial research is in its infancy, but it has the potential to be the next big breakthrough in quantitative finance.
